Kalamata International Dance Festival

This landmark institution established Kalamata as an international destination for contemporary dance. Every July, the Kalamata Dance Megaron and city squares overflow with leading choreographers and dance companies from around the globe. The festival goes beyond performances, including seminars and workshops, turning Kalamata into a vibrant artistic hub.

It is one of Europe's most significant contemporary dance festivals in Europe.

International Choir Festival

In partnership with Interkultur, Kalamata hosts hundreds of choristers from around the world. The city overflows with melodies in an event promoting international friendship and musical education, with concerts held in churches, squares, and the Kalamata Dance Megaron.

Tradition

Ypapanti (February 2nd): The city’s most important religious celebration, marked by a majestic procession of the Virgin Mary icon, that draws thousands of pilgrims.

During summer, the Municipality of Kalamata organizes the “Cultural Routes,” a program of events including concerts, theatrical performances, and exhibitions at iconic locations such as Kalamata Castle and the Municipal Railway Park.
